Dear Gun Owners,
This is Ben Mayer Libertarian Candidate for Chittenden VT State Senate.
I believe in the inalienable right to own a gun for defense from crime and tyranny.
I do believe in appropriate and moral use which is almost identical for police officers and civilians. They should be used by police and civilians when, and only when, a criminal is intruding or threatening (with the means to make a threat a reality). Or that criminal is escaped with already known inclinations to violence. Any other use or misuse would probably fill the void of murder, manslaughter, or reckless endangerment; instead of self-defense.
Obviously practice fire and hunting are also fine in their designated areas that are safe.
There is no way I would write legislation or co-sponsor anything that restricts your right to bear arms.
