Additional Comments: Alice Nitka, has proposed several anti-gun bills in 2013 (S.94) & 2015 (S.141 - the other 2/3rds of the killed S.31 Universal Background Check bill).
She also voted FOR H.735 (2013-14) which enacted an unconstitutional firearm confiscation procedure into law. Firearms can now be confiscated without search warrant and adjudication and then the ACCUSED has to pay a massive fee to regain ownership if found NOT GUILTY, or be forced to sell all firearms and ammo at auction if found guilty...
She fought against many changes in the Senate Judiciary on S.141, there was no way she wasn't going to back this bill as it contained similar language as S.94 from 2013.
Anti-gun H.735 was passed into law.
Anti-gun S.141 was passed into law.
Alice has not been a friend to gun owners in Vermont over the last 4 years.

2013-14: Sponsored S.0094 (BAD): Senate version of H.467: Mandates the State notify the National Instant Criminal Background Check System when a person is treated for mental illness, whether hospitalized or not hospitalized, so that the person will now appear as a "Prohibited Person" (ie. felon) and will be forever barred the possession of firearms.
There is currently, no way out of the NICS even if the person is no longer a threat, or found not to be mentally ill.
There is NO provision to EVER remove this prohibition!
This type of law is CONTINUOUSLY updated with new restrictions and clauses.

Bill #2
Gun control is another issue that Democrats split on.
Nitka said Vermont shouldn’t enact gun control laws that put it out of step with other states.
“I’m willing to look at everything, but the fact is that we’ve done a lot already,” she said, citing recently approved laws that have made it more difficult for felons and people with mental illness to obtain firearms. “If there’s going to be any change, I think Vermont should not be going it alone.”
The political victory fund of the National Rifle Association endorses Nitka in the race.
