Additional Comments: Bob won a write-in campaign and offers many pro-gun comments online, including ones like this: "There is no need for any gun legislation in Vermont. Our gun crime rate is either the lowest or close to the lowest in the nation. The only purpose now for those who will make it a big issue in this next legislative will be to smokescreen their inability or lack of resolve in dealing with our economic situation and the loss of people and business from out state. They will try to get the attention off of themselves. That is why we need a change. A big change!"
"that is why we need a change in the legislature. The entire Democrtic executive branch will push for more gun regulation this year so we better elect those who know better what is right for our people. I know I do."

10/24/2016: The candidates also have different stands on gun control. Orleck said he sees no need for further legislation, given the low rate of gun violence in Vermont. “I think we have (other) problems we have to deal with. This is not a pressing issue,” he said.

2016: Priorities and Positions
"Guns: Vermont has the fewest gun laws and the fewest gun related crimes and I am proud of that. No more need be said but I will.
The fact that Vermont is well armed is the reason that our citizens are the safest. Just consider what a recent week-end in Chicago brought to 48 men who were shot. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and their gun related crimes are out of control.
The anti-gun Democrat politicians in Vermont and especially the legislature will put gun registration legislation before the legislature this next year as a smoke screen to divert voter’s attention from them not doing the work they should to reduce taxes and strengthen the economy. I will not vote for any gun laws because they are not needed! Now that is enough said."
