Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, outlining her plan to curb gun violence Monday, vowed that she would use executive action to implement reforms if Congress does nothing to address it. She proposed comprehensive background checks, repealing the law that grants immunity to gun makers facing lawsuits, a ban on assault weapons, tightening gun show and Internet sales, and keeping guns from domestic abusers and people with serious mental health problems. Praying for the victims' families in Virginia." Clinton also vowed to fight for greater gun control at a campaign event in Ankeny, Iowa, on Wednesday, according to CNN. "We have got to do something about gun violence in America. And I will take it on," Clinton told reporters. "It's a very political, difficult issue in America. Clinton's proposal includes pushing for comprehensive federal background checks, closing loopholes in the system, repealing legislation that gives the firearm industry immunity from lawsuits, and improving laws intended to prevent the mentally ill from purchasing or possessing guns. She specifically mentioned using executive action to tighten loopholes surrounding gun show and online weapon sales if necessary.
