Worked with GoVT on S.141 to remove the unconstitutional aspects of the bill and to provide a method of regaining your right to keep and bear arms once treatment is completed. 2014: Joe was in contact with Gun Owners of Vermont on the crucial H.735 process. Sponsored S.94: This bill proposes to require the Department of Mental Health to report to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (part of which was included in 2016: S.141). |

2015-16: Sponsored S.199 (GOOD): An act relating to the invalidity of residential rental agreements that prohibit the tenant from possessing firearms on the premises. Bill #1 |
2013-14: Sponsored S.0094 (BAD): Senate version of H.467: Mandates the State notify the National Instant Criminal Background Check System when a person is treated for mental illness, whether hospitalized or not hospitalized, so that the person will now appear as a "Prohibited Person" (ie. felon) and will be forever barred the possession of firearms. There is currently, no way out of the NICS even if the person is no longer a threat, or found not to be mentally ill. There is NO provision to EVER remove this prohibition! This type of law is CONTINUOUSLY updated with new restrictions and clauses. Bill #3 |
9/22/2016: Joe comments on the latest anti-gun wave: domestic violence: "Before the legislature becomes embroiled in the controversy of universal background checks, does the author know how many of those six fatalities would have been avoided with a mandatory universal background check?" "It is illegal at both the state and federal level for someone convicted of domestic violence to obtain a gun. And last year the legislature created a system to place an abuser’s weapons in safe storage with police or gun facilities. Again, before the legislature becomes embroiled in this controversy, and considering that abusers are already forbidden from having firearms, what new regulation is this group calling for?"
