1/6/2016: According to Mullin, there has been more gun violence in states with tighter background checking requirements than here in Vermont.
“I think as far as the gun control aspects, I would be opposed to what the president has done, especially doing it as an executive order,” Mullin said.
“It’s one thing if all our elected representatives vote to do something but for the executive, whether it be the president or the governor, (to act) by executive order, it’s kind of skirting that process, probably because they know they don’t have the votes,” he said.
Mullin said he believes strongly in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the 16th amendment of the Vermont Constitution, both of which pertain to the right to bear arms.
