7/17/2016: Paul Morris
Today at 9:00am. Hi Korrine: Would you provide a statement on your position on gun control? There are a lot of people who would like to hear it directly from you. I looked for our previous thread about it but that has since been deleted. We would like to know where you stand on Background checks, magazine capacity, and the AR-15. Thank you.
Korrine Rodrigue for Rutland County Senate
Hi Paul Morris. I believe in protecting the second amendment for all law abiding citizens. As I mentioned before we have a gun ourselves. I have been to shooting ranges and have been trained in it's use. I understand and respect the VT culture. However I have no problem with having certain protocols in place. I am not running on gun control, please look at my website on the issues I want to work on. The reason the thread was deleted because it was on my husbands page and he is not the candidate, I am the candidate and the messages were getting a bit ugly and he didn't want that on his page. I believe in a respectful dialogue. I may not be the right candidate for you and I hope you find the right candidate. This is what a democracy is all about . Thanks!

NOTE: Actually, TRUE democracy is "mob rule", the majority rule over the minority. WE live in a Constitutional Republic, where the rule of law trumps the voice of the majority. OUR RIGHTS ARE NOT UP FOR A VOTE!

11/2/16: Even on guns the Democratic candidates have some differences. Garren says there should be more restrictions on gun purchases and that even though there is a culture of responsible gun ownership in the state, firearms are still a leading cause of death in domestic violence related homicides and cases of suicide.
Rodrigue however is less certain that imposing more restrictions would solve the problem. She notes that her husband, a native of Vermont, is a gun owner and that she’s gone to shooting ranges herself. She says she’s had conversations with Republican gunsmiths in Rutland and has mixed feelings on the question of expanding background checks, but believes a closer look at the issue of mental health and gun ownership is necessary.
“In some ways the root cause is mental health, substance abuse, and some of these larger societal issues,” Rodrigue said.
