Additional Comments: From a member 3/11/16: "I have some information for the candidate report. After voting in the Presidential primary, there was a woman named Ashley Hill standing outside collecting signatures to get on the ballot as a candidate for the State Senate, representing Washington County. When she approached me, I told her that I wouldn't sign a petition for someone that I knew nothing about. She said she is running as a Democrat and briefly talked about some of her core issues. I asked her where she stood on gun control and her statement started with "Well, I grew up shooting, but.........". She basically went on to say that dangerous criminals shouldn't have access to guns and that she was in favor of Universal Background Checks, both on the state level and nationally. She also said that she thought last years Universal Background Check bill should have been passed as it was introduced."

7/10/18: The six contestants were asked if they were in favor of continuing to implement further restrictions on gun ownership, following a package of firearm control bills passed by the legislature this spring. None of the candidates took the opportunity to support further legislative action. Hill said she supports the newly adopted gun restrictions, but she is concerned about a “blanket prohibition” on all gun owners under the age of 18. Source #1
