3/2/18: Daniel Freilich
March 27 ·
I will fight in Congress to support #GenerationZ's fight for their lives with the following comprehensive gun control package:
1. #AssaultWeaponsBan & high capacity magazines ban
2. Bump stocks ban
3. Comprehensive universal background checks
4. Waiting periods
5. Gun prohibition for those with mental illness or on no fly list; more funding for mental health & substance abuse disorders
6. Enforceable relinquishment laws
7. Concealed weapons ban
8. Increase minimum legal age
9. Tax gun transactions & require liability insurance
10. Repeal gun manufacturer immunity law (from civil lawsuits)
11. Strict felonies for those who break the above laws if passed
I don't and will never take #NRA blood money & I will out those who do such as our incumbent Congressman, #PeterWelch:
I will advocate for #GunControl based on a "Well regulated Militia" interpretation of the 2nd Amendment - a civic rather than an individual right. I acknowledge gun advocates disagree.
I will reject nonsensical BS arguments for more guns & other distractions from the elephant in the room (too many guns & little restriction on access to guns).
I will work with #Vermont leaders to change state laws: The Gifford Law Center gives VT an F for gun regulation.
I will be an advocate for the #Enough movement as my primary negotiating stance.
But I will work with gun advocates who are willing to negotiate in good faith (e.g., don't take NRA money, willing to negotiate) on reasonable compromises (e.g., graded licensing exceptions to some bans; taxing and requiring insurance only for higher risk weapons, etc.). Key word: 'reasonable'.
Life before guns, always.
