2013-14: Sponsored S.0094 (BAD): An act relating to reporting dangerous and mentally ill persons to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System
Senate version of H.467: Mandates the State notify the National Instant Criminal Background Check System when a person is treated for mental illness, whether hospitalized or not hospitalized, so that the person will now appear as a "Prohibited Person" (ie. felon) and will be forever barred the possession of firearms.
There is currently, no way out of the NICS even if the person is no longer a threat, or found not to be mentally ill.
There is NO provision to EVER remove this prohibition!
This type of law is CONTINUOUSLY updated with new restrictions and clauses.

Sponsored S.94: This bill proposes to require the Department of Mental Health to report to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System established by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 when a person is subject to a hospitalization order or nonhospitalization order as the result of a mental illness which causes the person to be a danger to him- or herself or others or when a person is found not guilty of a crime by reason of insanity or incompetent to stand trial due to a mental illness.

Proposed H.735 (firearms regulation - illegal under the Vermont Constitution):
This massive piece of gun control legislation was attached inside a 'fee' bill to slide it through Montpelier without anyone noticing.
Gun Owners of Vermont not only noticed, but fought it all the way to the end.

As of May 10, 2014 Act 191 is LAW.
Anyone ACCUSED of 'domestic violence' under a temporary Relief from Abuse Order (unadjudicated - Violation of Article 10), can now have the their house illegally searched without a warrant (violation of Article 11), ALL items that can be deemed 'weapons' (guns, ammunition, knives, baseball bats, bows, axes, etc) will be confiscated by Law Enforcement (violation again of Article 11) and held at the ACCUSED's repayment of fines when a permanent order is lifted.
