Details: Bennington Superior Court Judge T. Cortland Corsones had Christopher M. Crockwell, 32, confined on accusation that he threatened two other people with a gun.
Bennington Banner states: "State Police said Crockwell called them on April 9 to say Kim Thayer and Craig Thayer had come into his home and there had been a physical altercation after which he displayed a pistol and chambered a round then told the two to leave, which they did."
"Crockwell pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment."
Apparently, Crockwell is on probation in Massachusetts: alcohol and firearms are violations of this parole.
How can the charges of reckless endangerment be true if the two Thayer's entered Crockwell's home and started a physical altercation that led Crockwell to draw and load a firearm and request the other parties to leave the premises? Sounds like self defense in one's own home.
Also quoted in the Banner article: "The incident amounted to a home invasion, said Public Defender Frederick Bragdon who represents Crockwell. He said Kim Thayer and Craig Thayer had laid their hands on his client and the struggle was enough for them to go to the floor. He said Crockwell felt threatened when he got up which was why he displayed the gun."
If true, the only charges should be possession, yet does Massachusetts law override Vermont law? |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
