Details: A convict, Jonathan Henry, 28, who has an extensive criminal record including aggravated assault charges, had attacked a New Haven man after he had responded to a Craigslist ad on JANUARY 30th (This entry was for the SENTENCING).
After the encounter, Henry had pistol-whipped the 67 year old in the face and threatened to kill him.
The victim's statement included that, after the beating, he was taken to the Berlin Mall, where he was forced to buy Henry a $500 video game console. Next he was brought to his bank and was told to wire $10,000 to Henry’s personal account. Henry told the victim that if he refused or went to the police, he would shoot the man’s wife.
Henry then drove the victim back to his vehicle in East Montpelier.
Henry was captured the next day, but had escaped police custody on February 4, and was recaptured during a brief search.
This is a case of a dangerous felon who was already barred the lawful use of a firearm, using a firearm to commit a multitude of crimes.
Kidnapping, Assault, Extortion, but GunSense only focuses on the gun, not the criminal weilding it.
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
