Details: Vermont State Police were shot at several times while responding to a call that Paul Sweetser, 58, was threatening to harm himself. Even though there were 40-50 police armed and wearing body armor, a helicopter circling above, not a single shot was fired by the VSP. The neighbors were evacuated and the mental health workers tried for hours to help Sweetser. Sweetser ended the stand-off with the Vermont State Police by taking his own life. As stated by GunSense-aligned child psychologist, Dr. Sean Ackerman, "It is far easier to remove a firearm than it is to cure mental illness." Mr. Sweetser deserved help from the medical community, but politicians are more interestedin taking away everyone's guns "just in case." |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
