Details: On 8/16 (not 8/19), at the Shell gas station on Northside Drive in Bennington, a white male juvenile attempted to buy products that prompted the store clerk to ask for ID. After stating he didn't have his money or indentification, he left the store only to return a short time later.
When again asked for ID, the youth pulled a gun and demanded money from the register.
Another customer drove up to the pumps and interrupted therobbery.
Police dogs tracked the scent from the suspect to a nearby Willowbrook apartment complex. After going door-to-door, police discovered a resident had recently had a firearm stolen.
Police stated the youth confessed to BOTH the firearm theft and the gas station robbery attempt.
Bennington County State’s Attorney Erica Marthage, who decided to procecute the youth as a juvenille, said "it was unusual to have an armed robbery in the area."

This misguided notion would have done nothing to stop an underage criminal from 1.) Stealing a firearm from a neighbor and 2.) Committing a FELONY armed robbery. |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
