Details: A Derby woman, Valentina Velasquez, 31, attempted to break into the Derby Corner Mini Mart with a STOLEN long gun.
Store owner, Nabil Ibrahim, was armed when Velasquez attempted to break in.
Ibrahim was ready to shoot if she had successfully broken into the building.
“I have to protect myself,” said Nabil Ibrahim.
Velasquez never made it inside the store and she fled the scene leading police on a chase into Canada.
The RCMP stopped her flight with spike strips.
Velasquez now faces charges in the Vermont AND Canada.
Velasquez will be charged in Vermont with Attempted Burglary, Driving while License Suspended, Attempting to Elude, Careless and Negligent Operation, and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

A perfect example of SELF DEFENSE in Vermont by a law-abiding citizen (store owner) where no shots were fired and no one was hurt.
This is ANOTHER example where the proposed Universal Background Checks would NEVER keep guns out of dangerous people's hands!
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
