Details: 9-year-old, McKenzie Ezzo, was hospitalized after her father accidentally shot her in the stomach while clearing his .22-caliber handgun. Police said the father, Randy Babcock, was clearing the gun. The accident happened at a campsite in a wooded area off of Route 4 in Ira. While accidents are rare, this incident enphasizes how important firearm safety is. ALWAYS point firearms in a SAFE DIRECTION when handling them! ALWAYS keep your finger OFF the trigger and OUT of the trigger guard unless you are actually intending to fire the gun!
