Details: From the Brattleboro Reformer: "Tyrone J. Byrd, 40, of Brattleboro, was stopped on Canal Street on Oct. 5, 2016, when an officer with the Brattleboro Police Department noticed a headlight was out. Police found a Ruger Security-Six .357 Magnum revolver and claimed he was simply holding the gun for someone else.
The loaded firearm came from Massachusetts! A brown firearm holster was found in the left pocket of Byrd's jacket.
Byrd had served 10 years for a domestic assault charge,
Byrd had been convicted of aggravated first-degree domestic assault in Bennington County in February 2007, Byrd beat the victim "so severely that her face required reconstructive surgery."
Byrd failed to appear in court in July 2005.
He was charged with resisting arrest in 2001.
He was charged with cocaine possession in December 2001 and armed robbery!
Byrd's convictions prohibited him from possessing a firearm. Byrd was indicted by a grand jury in United States District Court for the District of Vermont on March 16 and Byrd is being detained "because there are no conditions of release that will reasonably assure the safety of the community, and because there is a serious risk that the defendant will flee," according to a motion for detention.
"In addition to pools of blood, police responding to the scene found a tooth," the motion stated. "Though the defendant was sentenced to four to 10 years, he ultimately served the full 10 years, likely because, as he told the arresting officer here, 'I was always getting into fights.' Indeed, on one occasion, the defendant was issued a disciplinary report after being found to have punched another inmate three times in the face." REPEAT OFFENDERS IN VERMONT ARE ALLOWED TO REOFFEND OVER AND OVER. |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
