VICTIM: Burton Lawson
AGE: 41
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Derby, Vermont
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 2-22-17 at approximately 0940 hrs Burton Lawson telephoned the Vermont State Police and advised that he was at his residence and was going to take his own
life with a rifle. Troopers from the Derby Barracks as well as the Orleans county Sheriff's department and a DMV officer responded to the residence and set up a perimeter around the residence. Mr. Lawson was alone in the residence.
Vermont Route 105 was blocked off and traffic was detoured around the location for approximately 3.5 hours.
Troopers made Telephone contact with Mr. Lawson and after a 3.5 hour period, troopers heard a single gunshot. Entry was made by Troopers into the residence
and found Mr. Lawson deceased with a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Mr. Lawson had not made any threats towards Law Enforcement or to anyone else. |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
