Details: May 4, 2017 SHAFTSBURY BARRACKS/ Domestic Assault VSP Press Release-Incident CASE#: 17B301387 RANK/TROOPER FULL NAME: Trooper Raymond Witkowski STATION: Shaftsbury CONTACT#: (802) 442-5421 DATE/TIME: 05/03/2017, 2234 hours LOCATION: Peckham Lane, Dorset, VT VIOLATION: Domestic Assault ACCUSED: Daniel W. Rollins AGE: 51 CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Dorset, VT VICTIM: (The Vermont State Police does not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.) AGE: 48 CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Dorset, VT SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On May 3rd 2017 at approximately 2234 hours, VSP Shaftsbury troopers responded to a reported family fight with a firearm possibly involved. Daniel W. Rollins was reportedly highly intoxicated and belligerent, damaging items in the residence and then stating that he was going to retrieve a handgun that was stored in a bedroom. He was observed to be in the room where the handgun was kept, placing a household/family member in fear of serious bodily injury or death and causing them to hide until troopers arrived on scene. Rollins refused to follow commands from troopers and was highly belligerent and uncooperative once taken into custody. Rollins was found to be unarmed at the time of his arrest. He was transported to Manchester Police Department for processing where he continued to be aggressive and uncooperative. He was issued conditions of release, including to appear before the Bennington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on May 4th 2017 at 1230 PM to answer to the charge of Domestic Assault. He was then transported to Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility to be held until sober. NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
