Details: SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 05/20/2017 at approximately 11:20 AM the Vermont State Police were notified of a burglary that occurred at a residence on Green River Road in Halifax. According to the complainant a large black Liberty safe was taken with approximately 10 firearms inside. The firearms included both long guns and hand guns. This occurred from approximately 1000 hours on 05/18/2017 to 1100 hours on 05/20/2017. Residents and business owners are reminded to keep both windows and doors secured. If anyone has information or has seen suspicious activity in the area they are encouraged to contact Trooper Shepley, Vermont State Police Westminster at 802-722-4600.
***update On June 20, 2017 Troopers from the Westminster State Police Barracks arrested James Kennedy for his involvement in a burglary that occurred at a residence in Halifax around May 20th, 2017. During this burglary numerous firearms were stolen. Since the initial report of the burglary 9 of the firearms have been recovered and returned to the victim. Kennedy was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Unlawful Trespass, Possession of Stolen Property, all felonies, and Unlawful Mischief, a misdemeanor. Bail was set at 750.00 and Kennedy was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield pending arraignment should he be unable to post bail. Kennedy was issued a citation to appear at the District Court in Brattleboro on June 21, 2017 to answer to the aforementioned charges. |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
