Details: SENTENCING FOR 2011 CRIME:
A Canadian man, Alexis Vlachos, 40, of Montreal, is facing FIVE federal charges in Vermont for allegedly smuggling approximately 100 handguns into Quebec that had been purchased in Florida.
stashed in a library straddling the international border.
Vlachos was indicted by a grand jury in 2015.
Vlachos worked with two other people, one being Annette Wexler, between July 2010 and April 2011 to buy some 100 handguns.
Wexler pled guilty to lying to licensed gun dealers.
The acomplices LIED on Federal Forms 4473 saying they were buying the guns for themselves, when they were actually buying them for Vlachos. THIS is "Straw Purchasing" and it DIDN'T happen in Vermont.
The indictment states, in March 2011 two people working with Vlachos went to Haskell Free Library in Derby Line, a public library that straddles the U.S.-Canada border and hid a backpack that held the handguns in the library bathroom, where Vlachos could retrieve them later and walk into Canada without going through a port of entry.
The five-count indictment also includes two counts that Vlachos exported guns without permission and two counts that he possessed firearms while in the country illegally.
Vlachos pleaded not guilty to the charges in federal court in Burlington on June 5, 2017.
Wexler is due to be sentenced in July.

UPDATE: Per the VTDigger, "Alexis Vlachos, 40, of Montreal, Canada, entered his guilty plea Monday in U.S. District Court in Burlington to federal charges of conspiring to export, and actually exporting, firearms from the United States to Canada, without a license, in violation of the Arms Control Export Act."
UPDATE 9/5/18: Alexis Vlachos,= was sentenced Tuesday to more than four years in prison for firearm smuggling.
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
