Details: On 8/13/17, state police pulled Jeffrey Charland, 30, of Derby, over after a trooper decided he was driving impaired. The trooper clocked him driving 75 mph in a 50 mph zone, and 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Charland told the officer that there was a weapon in the center console. The officer told him not to reach for the firearm, but, Charland disobeyed the order and pulled the loaded handgun from the console. Charland refused to drop the weapon and resisted. He was forcibly arrested, and was later cited to appear in the Orleans District court, charged with "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, DUI, resisting arrest, and grossly negligent operation." Driving drunk is bad. Driving drunk with a gun is worse. Pulling a gun when an officer tells you not to can win you the 2017 Darwin Award... |
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it. |
