Details: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 16, 2018 Montpelier, VT UPDATE 12:43 PM: Montpelier Police Chief Tony Facos and Vermont State Police Director Col. Matt Birmingham briefed the press and public today about the situation. Chief Facos said the suspect is deceased. Montpelier School Superintendent Brian Ricca said the school was locked down throughout the incident, but normal operations have resumed. Superintendent Ricca said he had been in contact with Union Elementary and Main Street Middle School officials, although at no time were those schools at any risk. Chief Facos declined to answer questions at this time, noting that the investigation is on-going. He said more information would be provided as it becomes available. Update 11:40 AM: Montpelier Police Chief Tony Facos and Police officials will hold a press conference today at 12:15 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Main Street. UPDATE 11:15 AM: Police Chief Facos has advised that shots were fired and the suspect is in custody. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
MONTPELIER -- This morning, the suspect of an armed robbery fled on foot and has been located in the vicinity between Montpelier High School and the Department of Labor. Montpelier High School is on lockdown, students, faculty and staff are safe and the perimeter is secure. The school is in contact with the Chief of Police. Police Chief Facos has advised that no one should go to the school or call the school.
NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
