Details: PRESS RELEASE CASE#: 18A202606 DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 27, 2018 at approximately 0510 hours INCIDENT LOCATION: Highgate, VT VIOLATIONS: Reported Burglary (Title 13 V.S.A. 1201) and Aggravated Assault (Title 13 V.S.A. 1024) ACCUSED: Unknown SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at approximately 0510 hours, the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks was notified of an incident in Highgate, VT. The reported information alleged that someone entered the involved residence and a male resident at the involved residence had a gunshot injury. The injured male was transported by rescue to the hospital for medical care related to non-life- threatening injuries. At this time, the information obtained alleges that an unknown person entered the involved residence and was subsequently confronted by the male resident. A physical altercation reportedly occurred between the alleged unknown assailant and the male resident. A firearm allegedly carried by the unknown assailant discharged while these two parties reportedly wrestled and injured the male resident. The unknown accused allegedly fled the area and 911 was subsequently contacted. No other similar reports or incidents have been reported in the area and this appears to be an isolated matter at this time. This matter is currently being investigated. NO law will prevent crime. No law will stop criminals from getting guns. Gun Control only effects the law-abiding citizen and the politicians know it.
