Candidate's Actions on Gun Control Bills:
|
2017-2018 Gun Bills: |
Bill #4: 2017-2018: Voted FOR H.422 (BAD). Unanimous vote in both House and Senate. https://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/H.422 |
Bill #3: 2017-2018: Voted FOR S.221 (Act 97) (BAD) https://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/S.221 |
Bill #2: VT Digger Wrap-Up Gun Control S.55, H.221 & H.421 https://vtdigger.org/leg_summary/unlawful-firearms/ |
2015-2016 Gun Bills: |
Bill #1: 2015-2016: SPONSORED H.297 (BAD):An act relating to the sale of ivory or rhinoceros horn H.297 would restrict the ownership and sale of ivory and rhino horn objects already owned by Vermonters. This will impact valuable collector firearms with ivory inlays or grips, as well as antique pianos, jewelry, and trophies. ALL ivory will have to be disposed of or confiscated by the state. Several on our side where suckered into sponsoring this "reasonable" regulation. Any excuse to attack firearms ownership from EVERY direction at once! http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2016/H.297 |

Source #4: 10/22/2020: NRA endorses House candidates, but there’s more to the story http://www.truenorthreports.com/nra-endorses-house-candidates-but-theres-more-to-the-story |
Source #3: 9/27/18: As for gun control, Shaw said he supported all of the bills passed in the last session except S.55, which banned bump stocks, added new restrictions on sales and banned high-capacity magazines. “I did not support the bill. It was a poorly written, rushed bill that didn’t get a fair hearing in Montpelier,” he said. https://www.rutlandherald.com/news/local/four-vie-for-two-seats-in-rutland/article_6e43d8f7-a70d-5378-b66a-f2d0d7db0b67.html |
Source #2: 4/16/2015: S.141 “Mr. Speaker:
Do we really need a new law that mirrors Federal law? The federal government needs to step up and do the job they are authorized to do! I vote no.” http://legislature.vermont.gov/assets/Documents/2016/Docs/JOURNAL/hj150416.pdf |
Source #1: 2015: S.141 “Mr. Speaker: ‘The people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State’ are words Vermonters have lived by since July 8, 1977. Now, nearly two and a half centuries later, this founding principle is being challenged by S.141. I vote ‘NO’ to stand up for nearly 250 years of tradition and to protect the right to bear arms for future generations of Vermonters." http://legislature.vermont.gov/assets/Documents/2016/Docs/JOURNAL/hj150417.pdf |
