1/28/2016: WARNING! H.R.11
Rep. Timothy Jerman (TOOK $1,700 OF Gun$en$e Money!) has introduced a bill to circumvent existing law (think of it as an Executive Order to change existing law by going AROUND the law).
This resolution will allow the anti-gun legislators to slide the unconstitutional Burlington Charter Changes directly to the floor for a vote, WITHOUT going to Committee to be vetted by legal counsel, hear testimony, or receive public comment!!!
This resolution would eliminate the democratic process and allow anti-gun politicians to enact gun control in Vermont without recourse!!
This piece of legislation will allow the Pandora's Box of "patchwork" laws across the state as each town will b able to regulate WHATEVER they want without committee scrutiny!
Imagine hundreds of towns banning & regulating different things like firearms, gasoline-powered cars, gay marriage, blue paint, pets, etc.
Drive up I91 or I89 and violate 40 different city ordinances without knowing...

4/30/2015: Seven Days "House Panel Smacks Down Burlington Gun Rules"
MY Comments on 04/30/2015: "There was NO "overwhelming" support for the charter changes!
Burlington statistics:
42,282 residents
29,685 registered voters
70%
Only 26% of the registered voters actually voted on these gun ordinances!
The margin of results at most was 12%.
On the safe storage ordinance there was only a FIVE PERCENT difference of the total voters!
Mayor Weinberger claims, on VPR, "that the people of Burlington overwhelming supported them".
GunSenseVT says it was overwhelming.
Five percent of the voters is in absolutely no way, overwhelming support!
At all of the public hearings, the overwhelming support came from people whose Rights will be violated, AGAINST Bloomberg-sponsored gun control."
Burlington charter changes H90, H91, H92 were shot down in flames!
Only ONE committee member supported them, JOANNA COLE.
Her GunSense campaign contributions:
08/22/14 $200
09/03/14 $200
10/02/14 $200.

3/2/2014: WPTZ "Sportsmen's federation alleges council tried to limit pro-gun discussion"
See how the Burlington town council hid public discussion of the anti-gun Burlington Charter Changes from the public!
The Burlington town council conspired to limit public input to only those in support of the gun ordinances. Some of those emails focused on allowing Gun Sense Vermont time to come up with a strategy.

Some original reporting from the beginning of the BURLINGTON CHARTER CHANGE saga!
This saga started in 2013 with the anti-gun city council and mayor of Burlington and ended in 2015 when H.90, H.91 and H.92 were shot down in committee in Montpelier.
GoVT was in the forefront fighting against these unconstitutional ordinances all the way to their inevitable DEFEAT!

Before the vote, Mayor Miro Weinberger said he does not support requiring a permit for a concealed firearm (the failed resolution), because it would be costly and difficult to enforce, referencing his conversation with Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling.
Also, Weinberger said it would create a “patchwork of local regulation,” and would likely fail in the Legislature. (EXCEPT THAT DENIES IN TESTIMONY THE OTHER 3 ORDINANCES WOULD CREATE THAT SAME 'PATCHWORK QUILT"!!
